Letters from a small town in Germany…

HELLO to all the participants of the Comenius project…

We are the class 11H/S from Berufliche Schulen Lampertheim in Germany. All of us visit the Specialised Vocational School, that is a two-year-course in the areas of home economics (7 students) and social pedagogics (16 students).
Most of our subjects are identical like German, English, politics, chemistry and sports but our class splits up for the subjects home economics and social pedagogics. It is our second year here. In May we will take our exams to finish school with an intermediate school qualification. Most of us will start an apprenticeship afterwards but some of us want to visit specialised high schools to get the qualification for higher learning.

Today we want to start our monthly “Letters from a small town in Germany…” which should give you some more information about us and our school life:
During January we had many tests before the “term´s report”, so we had a lot to learn. Tomorrow we will finally get the term´s report… But we also had some interesting topics in school. In politics we are reading one newspaper per week and we are discussing the actual political topics. To get this newspaper project started three weeks ago, we visited the newspaper factory in Mannheim (city, about 20km away) and learned how a newspaper is produced. But the real adventure was to find the way to the factory – we nearly got lost in Mannheim….
In German we are reading books in groups and afterwards we have to present them to the class.
At the moment the weather in Lampertheim is cold and icy and sometimes it even snows…

That´s all for today…

…bye, bye till February

Yours 11H/S
